Our employees at Designtex pride themselves on giving back to the local community and those in need.  Below are a few of the charitable and non-profit organizations Designtex has supported through volunteer work, monetary contributions and merchandise donations.

City Harvest - City Harvest is the world's first food rescue organization, dedicated to feeding the city's hungry men, women, and children.  This year, City Harvest will collect over 26 million pounds of excess food from all segments of the food industry, including restaurants, grocers, corporate cafeterias, manufactures, and farms.   www.cityharvest.org

The Institute Recycling Network - Established in 1999, the Institution Recycling Network is a cooperative, member-led organization.  The Network was founded o the recognition that most organizations can improve their recycling performance - operationally and financially - by taking advantage of cooperative marketing and purchasing opportunities.  IRN offers several of its programs, including surplus property management and construction and demolition waste management, to clients nationwide.   www.ir-network.com

Materials for the Arts - Since 1978, Materials for the Arts has provided thousands of New York City's arts and cultural organizations, public schools and community arts programs with the supplies they need to run and expand their programs.  Materials are gathered from companies and individuals that no longer need them and redistributed to the artists and educators that do.  In the process, hundreds of tons are removed from the waste stream every year and kept out of landfills, helping to sustain our environment and promote reuse and waste reduction.  www.mfta.org

New York Cares - New York Cares is now New York City's leading volunteer organization, brining vital volunteer support to thousands of nonprofit agencies, public schools, and other deserving organizations.  Today's volunteers share our founders' vision that we all have a role to play in making our city a better place.  www.newyorkcares.org

Project Renewal - Project Renewal is the only organization in New York that provides everything homeless people need to move from the streets to independent living. This comprehensive approach begins on the street where our mobile psychiatric and medical teams reach out to homeless people where they are struggling to survive.  From there help is provided for preparing, finding and keeping good jobs. www.projectrenewal.org

Special Olympics - Special Olympics is a global nonprofit organization targeting the nearly 200 million people around the world who have intellectual disabilities. The Special Olympics is made up of passionate, committed individuals from every walk of life, who recognize the value and unique gifts of people with intellectual disabilities.  And who, together, share the common belief in dignity, equality and opportunity for all people.  www.specialolympics.org

The Striking Viking Story Pirates - The Striking Viking Story Pirates is an arts education company featuring an ensemble of professional actors, who take entertaining stories written by kids from all of the world and adapt them into sketches and songs.  Through donations the Striking Pirates are able to organize weekly performance and in-school workshops.  http://storypirates.org/
